Minnesota 6, Cincinnati 4

SARASOTA, Fla., March 1 (UPI) -- Todd Sears doubled, homered, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs and Johan Santana tossed two hitless innings Saturday as the Minnesota Twins edged the Cincinnati Reds, 6-4.

Sears, a 27-year-old reserve infielder, homered in the opening inning off Reds starter Chris Reitsma. Michael Ryan also had two hits and Denny Hocking doubled and drove in two runs.

Santana walked two and struck out one in an impressive stint. Fellow lefthander J.C. Romero followed and allowed a hit in a scoreless inning.

Reitsma allowed two runs and two hits in two innings and rookie Josh Hall, who pitched the fourth inning, was tagged for four runs and four hits.

Brandon Larson had two hits and an RBI for the Reds.
