Suarez among Bogota winners

BOGOTA, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Top seed Paola Suarez of Argentina was among the winners Wednesday in the second round of the Copa Colsanitas.

Suarez, who is trying to bounce back from a first-round loss in the Pan-Pacific Tournament in Tokyo earlier this month, topped Nuria Llagoostera Vives of Spain, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Suarez advances to a quarterfinal matchup with sixth seed Conchita Martinez Granados of Spain, who defeated Olga Kalyuznaya of Russia, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-1).

Second seed Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia and fifth seed Flavia Pennetta of Italy also advanced on Wednesday. Srebotnik topped Jana Kandarr of Germany, 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-5) and advances to a quarterfinal matchup with Pennetta, who topped American Ansley Cargill, 6-3, 6-4.
