Phoenix 5, Edmonton 1

EDMONTON, Alberta, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Daymond Langkow recorded his second career hat trick and Zac Bierk made 38 saves Friday night as the Phoenix Coyotes extended their winning streak to three games with a 5-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Having scored just seven times in 48 games entering Friday, Langkow registered his first three-goal game since Oct. 13, 2001.

In the only previous meeting between Phoenix and Edmonton this season, Langkow scored the game-winner with 29 seconds left in overtime as the Coyotes posted a 4-3 victory on Dec. 30.

Bierk has stopped 103 of 106 shots during his current three-game winning run.

Anson Carter scored his 20th goal of the season for the Oilers, who are 1-2


1 in their last four games.
