Tampa Bay 5, NY Rangers 3

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Brad Richards had three assists and five different players tallied Sunday night as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the New York Rangers, 5-3.

New York had 16 penalties in the game and Martin St. Louis, Ruslan Fedotenko, defenseman Dan Boyle and captain Dave Andreychuk capitalized with power-play goals.

Fredrik Modin had the lone even-strength goal for Tampa Bay midway through the third period -- his 22nd career goal against the Rangers.

Bobby Holik, Eric Lindros and defenseman Joel Bouchard scored for New York. Goaltender Mike Dunham was peppered with 43 shots, including 34 over the opening 40 minutes.

Holik had four penalties called against him, including three in the final period. Teammate Dave Karpa also cost the Rangers with three penalties.
