Cris Carter to miss another game

MIAMI, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Miami Dolphins receiver Cris Carter has been ruled out of this Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens while he undergoes further tests for a kidney ailment.

Carter was hospitalized with a kidney abnormality last Friday after he missed several practices with gastroenteritis symptoms.

"Cris will not play again this week. He is still being evaluated by doctors," Dolphins Coach Dave Wannstedt said Monday. "We're taking it a day at a time and we'll see what transpires."

The 37-year-old Carter will not be cleared to play until the abnormalities are thoroughly investigated.

With Miami shorthanded at wideout with the loss of starter Oronde Gadsden, Carter came out of retirement by signing a one-year contract. He had been working as an analyst for HBO.

In his first game, Carter caught three passes and fumbled in a loss at Green Bay. He missed Sunday night's loss to the New York Jets.

Carter ranks second to Jerry Rice in career receptions and touchdown catches.

The Dolphins (5-4) have lost three straight and share first place with Buffalo and New England in the AFC East.
