Columbus 4, Buffalo 3

BUFFALO, N.Y., Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Geoff Sanderson set up three goals, including a pair of power-play tallies by defenseman Jaroslav Spacek, as the Columbus Blue Jackets rallied Sunday night for a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres.

Coming off an injury-plagued season, Sanderson had assists on three of Columbus' four goals in the third period. The Blue Jackets erased a 3-0 deficit by outshooting the Sabres, 21-5, over the final 20 minutes.

Spacek struck twice in a 5 1/2-minute span before Finnish rookie Lasse Pirjeta tied it with 7:28 remaining with his third preseason goal.

With 2:45 to play, Sanderson spotted Chris Nielsen on the doorstep and set up the game-winning one-timer.

Miroslav Satan scored his sixth of the preseason and Taylor Pyatt and rookie Ales Kotalik had the other goals for Buffalo.
