Weather plagues PGA Championship

CHASKA, Minn., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Play in the second round of the PGA Championship, suspended Friday with 41 players still on the course due to a severe thunder storm, was scheduled to resume at 10:15 a.m. EDT Saturday after another delay of nearly two hours.

The start of the third round was scheduled to get under way at 12:30 p.m. EDT with players going off in groups of three on two tees to make up for lost time.

Thursday, the first round was called due to darkness after a pair of early storms delayed action for nearly three hours.

Among those forced off the course before lightning, booming thunder and torrential rains came on Friday was Tiger Woods, who was 2-under par through 16 holes for the day and 3-under for the tournament -- four strokes behind leader Fred Funk, also yet to complete the second round.
