NAPERVILLE, Ill., July 20 (UPI) -- D.C. United goalkeeper Nick Rimando made eight saves Saturday night, several of them spectacular ones, allowing his team to hold on for a 0-0 tie against the Chicago Fire.

The scoreless draw was the first in MLS this season after 89 of 140 regular season matches. It was also the first point earned by United on the road all season, interrupting a streak of seven consecutive losses to start the 2002 campaign.

United last won a road game in July of 2001.

The tie was the first in the series history between the two clubs which is now deadlocked at 5-5-1. United and the Fire split their two previous matches this season with the home team winning each contest.

(2-0 D.C. win at RFK on March 30 and a 3-0 Fire victory on May 4 in Naperville).
