Portland 98, San Antonio 93

PORTLAND, Ore., March 28 (UPI) -- The San Antonio Spurs had their league season-high 13-game winning streak snapped Wednesday night by the Portland Trail Blazers, who got 24 points from Bonzi Wells and 19 from Dale Davis in a 98-93 victory.

In so doing, the Trail Blazers suplanted the Spurs as the hottest team in the Western Conference.

They won for the 17th time in their last 20 games, including nine of 10 at home. Their only loss at the Rose Garden during that span came Monday, when they blew a 25-point third-quarter lead to the last-place team in the Midwest Division.

But, with the first-place team in the Midwest paying a visit, Portland was up to the challenge. It snapped a five-game skid against San Antonio and moved 1 1/2 games ahead of Minnesota for fifth place in the West.

Tim Duncan scored 34 points for the Spurs, who dropped to two games behind Sacramento for the top spot in the West.
