Texas 8, Boston 8 (10 innings)

FORT MYERS, Fla., March 11 (UPI) -- Perdro Martinez pitched 2 2/3 shaky innings and Tony Clark and Manny Ramirez homered as the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox battled Monday to an 8-8 tie.

Martinez, the first of eight Boston pitchers, surrendered three runs and three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Red Sox manager, Grady Little, signed Monday, watched the game from the press box and will be in uniform Tuesday.

It was the third homer of the exhibiton season for Clark, who drove in three runs and scored twice. Ramirez also scored two runs and Carlos Baerga had two RBI for Boston.

Jason Hart and Jason Maxwell each homered and Alex Rodriguez doubled and drove in two runs for Texas, which sent seven hurlers to the mound.

Ismael Valdes started and was tagged for four runs and five hits with a walk and four strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.
