VERO BEACH, Fla., March 8 (UPI) -- Cesar Izturis homered and drove in two runs and lefthander Kazuhisa Ishii and Eric Gagne combined to pitch five scoreless innings Friday as the Los Angeles Dodgers recorded a 5-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
Brian Jordan, who was acquired from the Braves for Gary Sheffield, and Eric Karros and Adrian Beltre each drove in single runs as the Dodgers scored a pair of runs in both the first and fourth innings.
Ishii tossed two innings and allowed one hit and struck out four. Gagne pitched three innings and gave up a hit and struck out two.
Lefthander Tom Glavine allowed three runs and five hits in three innings and John Smoltz yielded two runs and three hits in one inning of relief for Atlanta.
Rafael Furcal had the lone RBI for the Braves.
