
PHOENIX, March 6 (UPI) -- Miguel Tejada homered twice and drove in five runs Wednesday, powering the Oakland Athletics to a 10-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Tejada hit a three-run homer off Rick Helling in a five-run third inning and a two-run shot off Brian Anderson in the sixth.
Scott Hatteberg had three hits, Frank Menechino had two and two RBI and Jason Grabowski homered for the Athletics, who had 16 hits off four Diamondbacks pitchers.
Helling allowed seven runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings. Anderson gave up three runs and six hits in 2 2/3 innings.
Helling was signed as a free agent during the offseason when the World Series champions could not land David Wells.
Oakland's Cory Lidle gave up two unearned runs and two hits in three innings, striking out two. Relievers Allan Levrault, Billy Koch, Mike Venafro and Luis Vizcaino combined to allow five hits over six scoreless innings.
