ATLANTA, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Jaromir Jagr had a goal and an assist in his return from a groin injury and Olaf Kolzig recorded his third shutout in 11 days Tuesday as the Washington Capitals blanked the Atlanta Thrashers, 3-0.

Jagr missed five games with a groin ailment but picked up an assist on the first goal of the game and scored the last one of the night on a breakaway.

The NHL's four-time defending scoring champion, Jagr is third on his team in scoring with 16 goals and 26 assists. This is his first season with Washington.

Kolzig stopped five shots in the first period, 12 in the second and 10 in the third for his fourth shutout of the season and 27th of his career. In the last 11 days, he also has blanked Florida and Boston.

Ulf Dahlen and defenseman Brendan Witt also scored for the Capitals, who totaled four goals in their previous five games. They had lost three in a row. Witt snapped a 40-game goal drought.
