Kansas 74, Oklahoma 67

LAWRENCE, Kan., Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Drew Gooden collected 19 points and 10 rebounds as No. 4 Kansas built a huge lead Saturday before holding on for a 74-67 Big 12 Conference victory over No. 5 Oklahoma.

In a battle of Big 12 heavyweights, the Sooners saw their 13-game winning streak come to an end.

Gooden led a huge 24-8 surge to open the second half as Kansas (15-2, 4-0 Big 12) built on a 30-25 halftime lead. A three-point play by Gooden gave Kansas a 54-33 lead with just over 14 minutes remaining.

Oklahoma (14-2, 3-1) climbed back in the game with a 12-0 surge. Ebi Ere scored the last seven, cutting the deficit to 57-49 with just under nine minutes left. A three-point play by Quannas White made it 68-62 with 2:33 remaining.

Kirk Hinrich made 1-of-2 from the line and Nick Collison added an inside hoop for a nine-point cushion and the Sooners got no closer that six points the rest of the way.
