SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Niklas Sundstrom scored on Mike Vernon with 18:14 left in regulation Tuesday night as the San Jose Sharks rallied for a 2-2 tie with the Calgary Flames, who have gone a month without posting consecutive wins.

Vernon took a 2-1 lead into the third period as he tried for his first victory since Feb. 9. But, Scott Thornton gathered a loose puck off the end boards and threw it across the crease to Sundstrom, who was stationed in front of the right goalpost and scored into a half-empty net.
