Utah 105, Orlando 98

SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Greg Ostertag fell two blocks shy of a triple-double and Karl Malone scored 29 points as the Utah Jazz rebounded Monday night from their worst loss of the young season with a 105-98 victory over the Orlando Magic.

The 7-2 Ostertag collected 14 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks for the Jazz, who suffered a 117-96 loss to Toronto on Friday but were able to get by the Magic for the ninth time in 10 meetings.

Utah, which had lost three of its first four games at the Delta Center, took control by scoring eight straight points in the fourth quarter after Orlando had fought within 78-73 on a pair of free throws by Grant Hill with 8:43 remaining.

Malone capped the run by making the first of two free throws with 6:17 left to give the Jazz an 86-73 advantage.

The Magic responded with a 13-3 burst, cutting the deficit to four points in the final minute, but John Stockton hit a pair of free throws with 32 seconds left to finally put the game out of reach.
