Oaklasnd 9, Texas 4

OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Miguel Tejada, continuing to thrive since moving to the No. 2 spot in the lineup, had three hits, including a homer, and drove in three runs as the Oakland A's rolled to a 9-4 triumph over the Texas Rangers Tuesday night.

With his 30th homer of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth inning, Tejada and Eric Chavez became the first shortstop-third baseman combo to hit 30 home runs apiece in the same season.

"I knew when we both had 100 RBI, I knew that hadn't happened in a while and I just found out when he hit his 30th, that was the first time. So, it's pretty cool," Chavez said.

Oakland starter Barry Zito (16-8) allowed three runs and eight hits in six innings, walking one and striking out five. Before the game, Manager Art Howe revealed that the 23-year-old lefthander would be the A's Game Three starter in the Division Series.

Darren Oliver (11-11) started for Texas and was hit hard, surrendering seven runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings. He walked four and struck out two.
