DALLAS, June 3 (UPI) -- Construction began on a 63-mile pipeline in Texas to expand the transportation of Haynesville shale gas, Texas company Energy Transfer Partners announced.
Energy Transfer Partners said the pipeline would start in Shelby County and end in Nacogdoches County in east Texas. The pipeline will service gas from the Haynesville shale play in the region.
Natural gas production for the pipeline is supported by agreements that cover roughly 264,000 acres in the east Texas area, the company said.
The new pipeline will connect to interstate routes and the Houston Pipeline System.
Energy Transfer Partners said Tuesday it started construction on a 175-mile gas pipeline.
The so-called Tiger pipeline is designed for 2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from shale deposits in Louisiana and eastern Texas.
The 63-mile pipeline is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
