Eni starts up cross-border Adriatic field

ROME, April 7 (UPI) -- Italian energy company Eni announced it began production at the Annamaria B offshore platform, its first cross-border field in the Adriatic Sea.

The Annamaria B field lies in the Adriatic Sea, crossing the border between Italy and Croatia. It sits in water depths of about 200 feet and is the first cross-border field to go into production in the Adriatic Sea, the Italian energy giant said.

Eni said production is at about 2.8 million cubic feet of natural gas per day currently, but could reach 42 million cubic feet when running at full capacity.

Confirmed and estimated reserves stand at about 350 billion cubic feet.

Gas from the offshore field, located about 35 miles off the coast of Italy, is transported through an underwater pipeline to an onshore treatment plant.

The twin Annamaria A field in Croatian waters of the Adriatic Sea is in production already.
