PALM BEACH, Fla., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A sea turtle released from a Florida marine life center after being treated for injuries from a boat propeller has been found dead, officials said.

The 170-pound green sea turtle, dubbed Andre, was found injured in June 2010 south of the Juno Beach Pier and was treated for about a year by staff at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, the Palm Beach Post reported Thursday.

The turtle, released Aug. 3 while a crowd of about 1,000 watched, was found dead Thursday, washed ashore on Hutchinson Island.

Loggerhead officials were able to identify the turtle from an identification tag attached to one of his flippers.

The cause of death could not be determined, Loggerhead spokeswoman Brittany Miller said.
