LONDON, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- European broadband majors Pirelli and Marconi have signed an agreement to offer next-generation transmission solutions worldwide.
The companies announced Tuesday that the cooperation deal will accommodate Internet Protocol Television and other high-bandwidth services that are in increasing demand in urban telecom territories.

Transmission bottlenecks and the need for improved traffic-flow management inspired the agreement.
The particulars of the deal hinge on Perelli's City8 TM Multiservice Platform, which is managed by Marconi and allows telecoms to remotely manage their entire networks.
