eAccess with Goldman Sachs backing

TOKYO, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Japan's eAccess said Friday Goldman Sachs will invest around $230 million in its plan to start up a mobile telecommunications service.

Briefing reporters on the company's plan to become a mobile carrier, eAccess Chairman Sachio Semmoto said, "Goldman Sachs was an early investor ... and its global investment committee agreed again to invest in our mobile business."

The company is expected to begin services by next year.

The New York investment bank, however, declined to comment on the report.
