National labs can handle homeland duty

WASHINGTON, July 10 (UPI) -- The Department of Energy's nuclear security efforts and laboratories will be able to meet the needs of the proposed Department of Homeland Security without compromising their core duties, witnesses said Wednesday at a Senate hearing. Current programs to prevent the loss of weapons-grade nuclear material in Russia will remain at DOE, one official said.
