July 17 (UPI) -- A photo illustration of Martin Luther King Jr. wearing a hooded sweatshirt has gone viral in the wake of the verdict of the George Zimmerman trial for the death of Trayvon Martin.

The image was created by graphic designer Nikkolas Smith and tweeted by former President Barack Obama advisor and civil rights activist Van Jones.

Smith posted the image in a poster website under the caption "The Dream will never die. It is more powerful than fear or violence. It can never be swindled away or destroyed. It is one of Love, and therefore timeless."

Martin's hoodie has become an important symbol for a movement that looks to seek justice for the 17-year-old's death.

Daniel Maree the founder of "Million Hoodies For Trayvon Martin" has said he created the organization in an attempt "to be against the gun lobby and against racial profiling."

While the illustration of the late civil rights activist sporting the hooded sweatshirt has been re-tweeted thousands of times, not everyone is a fan. King's niece, Alveda King said, on the Andrea Tantaros radio show Tuesday, that her uncle was not the hoodie-wearing type.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would very likely not wear a hoodie,” she said. “I can assure you he would not wear sagging pants. I don't even think I’ve ever even seen his sons with sagging pants.”
