San Jose television news station KTVU reported the names of the flight crew of Asiana flight 214 that crash landed in San Francisco this week -- except they were fake.

KTVU reported the fake names were "confirmed by the NTSB." The list of racist names included a number of Asian stereotype names that sound like phrases when spoken aloud.

The station quickly apologized for the error, but maintained that the National Transportation Safety Board had confirmed the list of names.

"Earlier in the newscast we gave some names of pilots involved in the Asiana Airlines crash. These names were not accurate despite an NTSB official in Washington confirming them late this morning. We apologize for the error."

The list of clearly fake names included Captain Sum Ting Wong, Wi Tu Lo, Ho Lee Fuk and Bang Ding Ow.
