Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Police in Virginia were in disbelief after receiving a call about a massive lizard wandering outside a local home.

Henrico County Police shared photos of the 4-foot lizard that was reported on the caller's side yard on Tuesday.

"I couldn't have heard that correctly, this should be interesting," an officer said before arriving at the scene. "I'll be darned, that is...a 4 FOOT LIZARD."

Lt. Shawn Sears of Henrico Animal Protection Police told the Richmond Times-Dispatch an officer was called to the scene to snatch up the home-invading lizard.

"It was just called in saying it was loose in the neighborhood there," Sears said. "The officer went over and captured him, and he is now being held for us by the person that keeps our reptiles so that they can provide the care that that particular species needs."

Sears believes the lizard is a pet, but no owner has come forward to claim it.
