Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A Thailand man had to postpone his plans to shower when he went into his bathroom and discovered a massive monitor lizard in his water tank.

Somchai Kunchai, 45, said he was preparing to take a shower about 7 p.m. Friday at his Chachoengsao home when he saw the 5-foot lizard poke its head out of the water tank.

"I wanted to take a shower then I saw the monitor lizard looking up out of the water. It gave me a big fright, and made my heart go fast," he said.

The homeowner summoned rescue workers to the house, and a video from the scene shows responder Danupon Tapo using a catch pole to lasso the lizard and lift it out of the water.

"The lizard was hiding in the bottom of the tub so we had to discharge some of the water then rake the pole around to find it," the rescue worker said. "We're sure he was hot and looking for some water for a swim. We pulled him out and put him into trees next to the house.''
