Aug. 7 (UPI) -- A large alligator came knocking at a Louisiana family's front door on Sunday afternoon.

Eddie Bruce captured footage of the approximately 8-foot long alligator strolling through a Breaux Bridge resident's yard before deciding to settle outside their door.

"Caught trespassing in Breaux Bridge," Bruce wrote. "8-foot. I believe his name is George."

The family contacted the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, which said the gator likely wandered out from a local ravine in search of a partner for mating season.

Crowds gathered around the home as a nuisance trapper arrived to capture and remove the massive gator.

"Booked for trespassing," Bruce said.

Department of Wildlife and Fisheries warned that alligators often turn up in strange places in search of mates or food during mating season.
