Police arrived at the scene around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, where they found the mother and her young children hiding in the bathroom.
Sgt. Robert Oranchak and Officer Scott Myers saw the bobcat on the first floor of the home and attempted to open exterior doors and the kitchen window to guide it out of the home, NJ.com reported.
After about an hour the bobcat found its own way out of the building through the kitchen window and ran into the nearby woods.
Officers said the bobcat did not appear sick or rabid. It also did not make contact with anyone at the scene and no damage was done to the property.
