GLASGOW, Scotland, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A Scottish pub is drawing attention online for a cheeky sign addressed to a man who frequently uses the building's bathroom without making a purchase.

The chalkboard sign outside the Rufus T Firefly pub in Glasgow went viral after a photo of it was posted to the popular Scotland from the Roadside group on Facebook.

The sign reads:

"To the guy who keeps coming in to do a wee jobby without buying anything then pretends to be on his phone on the road to avoid eye contact. Hiya pal!"

Some Facebook users criticized the pub for singling out the not-quite-customer, but pub owner Will Jamieson told the Morning Advertiser that the sign was meant as "a joke at the expense of bad etiquette."

"There's no issue," he said. "If somebody needs to use the toilet then I'm not going to stop them. We thought we'd put it on the board, he'll see it but at the same time it doesn't give his identity away to anyone else. It was a wee joke to that one particular individual. We've never told anyone that they can't use the toilet."
