The woman first spotted the kitten as she walked toward her vehicle. She saw it dart off and assumed it had gone on its way.

She later heard meowing as she began to drive and pulled over to search for the kitten which was nowhere to be found.

She eventually brought the car to the police department where officers searched for several hours before eventually locating the kitten inside the vehicle.

"Appropriately nick named 'Fender,' due to being finally found inside the right front fender well, the kitten was pulled out to safety by DC Walsh," police said.

The woman eventually took Fender home and said he was "safe and sound" in her spare bedroom, with food and water patiently awaiting a bath.
