CHARLESTON, W.Va., Aug. 23 (UPI) -- A West Virginia police officer used a jacket to safely tackle an injured red-tailed hawk, and the caught-on-camera incident was set to some appropriate music.

The Charleston Police Department posted a video to Facebook showing Cpl. T. Hawley carefully approaching a female hawk from the rear in the middle of the four lane highway of Route 119 in Charleston.

Hawley swiftly grabs the hawk in a jacket to protect himself from the bird of prey's sharp talons and beak.

The video, filmed by a fellow officer, was set to the theme music from reality TV series Cops.

The department said the hawk was apparently struck by a vehicle and suffered a broken wing. The bird was transported to Raptor Rehab in Hinton for medical treatment.

The hawk will eventually be released into the New River Gorge area, police said.
