"Animal control was contacted and responded but was unable to respond in time to capture the large snake before it went into a hole in the ground," police wrote.

An update revealed that officers had found the owner of the boa constrictor, but were still attempting to track down the snake.

Officers warned that while the snake is not venomous it can cause injury and encouraged residents to monitor their pets while letting them outside.
