Texas man's smartphone stops .22-caliber bullet

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, June 1 (UPI) -- A Texas man used an unusual tactic to demonstrate the durability of his HTC smartphone -- he showed how it can stop a .22 caliber bullet.

The video, shot Tuesday in Corpus Christi, shows the man placing his HTC Android smartphone on a wooden step while its screen is turned on to show it is functioning.

The man then takes aim at the phone with a .22 caliber handgun and fires off a round, which knocks the phone from the step.

The filmer picks up the phone, showing the screen has been shattered, but the bullet failed to pass through the phone.
