Colorado sheriff's office chronicles epic saga of llama on the loose

BOULDER, Colo., May 4 (UPI) -- A Colorado sheriff's office said deputies spent more than an hour working to corral an "uncooperative llama" found wandering near a busy road.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded Tuesday morning to an area near Niwot Road and Diagonal Highway on a report of a loose llama.

"You never know what the day will bring when you work at the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. Today it's a llama," the sheriff's office tweeted.

A follow-up tweet featured a "Wanted" poster with a photo of the llama and a caption reading, "Wanted: one uncooperative llama. #LlamaOnTheLoose."

The llama, identified by its owner as "Ethel," attempted to flee into an alfalfa field, the sheriff's office said.

"Update: We understand that the llama goes by the name Ethel. Not sure is the llama has other aliases," the department joked on Twitter.

The sheriff's office said the llama was back home about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday and gave a "shout out to the bystanders who helped create a human fence" to corral the animal.
