Travel guide company Lonely Planet's "Toilets: A Spotter's Guide" offers photos and stories of more than 100 toilets of various types across the world. The book features a wide array of different styles of toilets from the extravagant to the mundane.

"Whatever you prefer to call them – lavatory, loo, bog, khasi, thunderbox, dunny, bathroom, restroom, washroom or water closet – toilets are a (sometimes opaque, often wideopen) window into the secret soul of a destination," the book's description states.
The book features a wide array of toilets from artistically striking, metropolitan structures to wooden outposts in remote deserts.
"The lavatory is the great leveler," the books introduction states. "Everyone feels the call of nature, everyday but, like any common species being ubiquitous doesn't make it uniform."
