NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., April 11 (UPI) -- A company took advantage of its annual conference of managers in Maryland by breaking the world record for largest human mattress dominoes.

The March 22 feat at the annual managers' meeting for appliance shop Aaron's featured 1,200 participants falling like dominoes while pressed up against mattresses.

Guinness World Records officials said the feat bested a 2012 record by 50 mattresses.

"Mass participation records like these are pretty complicated," Kristen Ott, public relations manager for Guinness World Records North America, told ABC News.

Ott said this particular record has strict rules governing mattress size, distance between mattresses and other variables.

Aaron's officials said they started planning the mattress record last November.

"We were trying to think of a team-building event that would involve a large number of [managers]," Aaron's spokesman Garet Hayes said.

Hayes said all of the mattresses used to break the record were donated to charity.
