TACOMA, Wash., April 1 (UPI) -- An excavator driver in Washington state used the piece of heavy machinery to save a baby deer that was in danger of drowning in the mud.

A video posted to Facebook by Bill Davis shows a man using the excavator's hydraulic arm to dig out the mud surrounding the yearling black tail deer while another man gives instructions.

The man is eventually able to scoop up the deer in the bucket and lift it to safety.

Davis said the rescued deer in the video wasn't the only yearling plucked from the mud that day.

"Found a couple yearling black tail deer stuck in some mud! Couldn't watch them struggle!" Davis wrote.
