GLASGOW, Scotland, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- A Scottish animal rescue is looking for a home for an unusual pet -- a "larger than life" rabbit the size of a small dog.

The Scottish SPCA said the 7-month-old continental giant rabbit, Atlas, was taken in by the charity's Glasgow shelter after his owner could no longer properly care for him.

Anna O'Donnell, the shelter's manager, said Atlas is the size of a west highland white terrier and he still has "some growing to do."

"He is a very friendly rabbit who loves attention and getting cuddles," O'Donnell said. "Atlas is also an inquisitive boy who makes everyone laugh with his mischievous character."

"We are looking for a specific home for Atlas due to his breed and size. A standard rabbit hutch won't do so his new owner will need plenty of space for him," she said. "Atlas needs an owner with the knowledge to properly care for him, so ideally someone who has kept a continental giant before."
