Consumerist coyote's Kohl's shopping trip ends prematurely

VALPARAISO, Ind., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Even members of the animal kingdom have trouble resisting a good sale.

Indiana wildlife officials said an officer was dispatched to a Kohl's store when a coyote tried to get into the shop and refused to leave the vestibule.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources' District 10 posted photos to Facebook showing the coyote encountered by Officer Nicole Baumann at the Kohl's store in Valparaiso.

The post said the coyote walked into the vestibule about 7:30 p.m. Saturday and employees were able to lock the inside doors to prevent it from getting into the store.

Baumann said the coyote was frightened and didn't seem to realize it could leave through the still-open outside doors.

The officer was able to corral the coyote out the doors with the help of police and the animal ran off into the night.

"He ran out of there very fast and ran across the parking lot and was gone," Baumann told The Times of Northwest Indiana.
