Drone approaches humpback whale, whale approaches drone

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Jan. 15 (UPI) -- A man using a drone to get a closer look at a humpback whale off California found the whale apparently wanted a closer look at the drone.

The video, filmed Sunday off Newport Beach, shows the drone move out over the water to get a closer look at the humpback whale.

The whale apparently wanted a closer look at the drone and can be seen repeatedly breaching the surface of the water under the device.

"This Humpback whale put on an amazing show today for Newport Coastal Adventure and the few lucky guests aboard. No other boats were around, just our boat, the ocean, and this majestic creature showing off his acrobatic skills," the filmer wrote.
