GREENSBURG, Pa., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania man charged with growing psychedelic mushrooms displayed the enthusiasm associated with the drug in what might be the year's most cheerful mugshot.

David Kalb, 41, was arrested Monday after he invited Pennsylvania State Troopers responding to a reported disturbance into his Greensburg apartment at Hempfield Towers, a high rise operated by Westmoreland County for low-income elderly and disabled residents.

"In plain view, I observed a small amount of marijuana, 70 mushroom plants and 10 mason jars containing active ingredients to manufacture psychedelic mushrooms," Trooper Ryan Marmol wrote in the arrest report.

Kalb was taken to the Westmoreland County Prison, where he posed for his mugshot with a facial expression that might indicate he had sampled some of his products before his arrest.

Police did not say whether the suspect's enthusiastic expression in the photo was related to drug use.

Kalb is due in court Dec. 15 to face charges of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
