NORMAN, Okla., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma police department shared a photo of an officer chauffeuring an unusual perp in the backseat of his cruiser: a donkey.

The police department in Norman, Oklahoma, wrote in a Facebook post that Officer Kyle Canaan responded to a call about a "donkey on the loose" in the city Tuesday morning.

Robin Strader, who first spotted the donkey and called police, offered to keep the animal on her property until its owners could be found, but she and Canaan then faced the problem of how to transport it.

"She said, 'Well, no, it won't fit in my car,'" Canaan told KFOR-TV. "And, I was like, 'Eh, it may fit in my car.'"

The pair used animal feed to lure the donkey, nicknamed Squishy, into the back of Canaan's car for transport to Strader's property.

Canaan said the donkey left him a memento of their four-mile trip together.

"It used the bathroom in the back of my police car -- number two," Canaan said. "I mean, I must have got it right after breakfast, because there was a lot."
