BOSTON, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- An international club for collectors of vintage washing machines held a "wash-in" event in Boston for a small fraction of its 3,000 members.

The Washing Machine Collectors Club, which was founded in the 1980s with only about six members, currently boasts about 3,000 members with washing machine enthusiasts from around the world participating in discussions and "wash-in" events organized via their website, AutomaticWasher.org.

"It's just three days of crazy washing around the clock," club co-founder Jon Charles told CBS Sunday Morning of the "wash-in" events he holds in his basement, which boasts a 22-strong collection of working vintage machines.

"I mean, at four in the morning you've gotta say, 'OK, guys, it's time to quit,'" he said.
