FRESNO, Calif., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Some California residents said a shape in the smoke above a house fire may indicate the home's occupants were being watched over by Jesus Christ.

The image, recorded in a cellphone video taken by a witness during the Saturday fire in Fresno, appears in the smoke above the duplex just before a man is seen carrying another man out of the building.

Some residents said the smoke looks like Jesus Christ.

"You see Jesus in the smoke, and then the person gets saved. That's, that's right there not a coincidence," Wyatt Forker, who viewed the cellphone video, told KSEE-TV.

Monsignor Raymond Dreiling with the Catholic Diocese of Fresno said he is not sure if the shape of the smoke is a coincidence or a sign from above.

"Is that God speaking to us? In a specific way, no. But, for people of faith, we can say, this is a hint for us," Dreiling said.

Dreiling said he does believe there was a divine presence during the fire.

"But for me, the true face of God, the true image of God, was the man carrying his neighbor out on his shoulders."
