DENVER, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- The Denver Police Department has created a public service announcement warning parents to be wary of marijuana-infused Halloween candy.

The video, created in partnership with Urban Dispensary pot shop owner Patrick Johnson, warns parents that marijuana-infused candy can be virtually indistinguishable from regular candy.

Johnson says the companies that make the marijuana-infused candy tend to use "knock-off" products because they are cheaper. He recommends parents throw out candy that doesn't appear to be from a recognizable company.

"With Halloween fast approaching, Colorado citizens are in a unique position in the country -- watching our kid's candy for marijuana edibles," police said.
