DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A man was accused of attempted burglary when police found him on the roof of a store, covered in tar and claiming to be visiting family.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports that at 3 a.m. last Tuesday, Daytona Beach police discovered Joshue Holoman after responding to a report of outlandish noises coming from the back of a Sonoco gas station. The 30-year-old Orlando resident was on the roof of the store, covered in tar and in possession of burglary tools, police say.

Holoman gave officers three different stories: First he said that he was visiting family. Then he said that he was trying to fix the store's air conditioning units. Finally he said that he had been sleeping on the roof, and that he had rubbed the tar on his body as camouflage.

Holoman is believed to have been covered in the roofing tar when he attempted to enter the store via an air conditioning vent. A police report indicates that he was seen on the roof of another business earlier that night.

Police found a prying bar on Holoman's person, and charged him with two counts of attempted burglary of an unoccupied structure, possession of burglary tools and criminal mischief. Bail was set at $4,000.
