SIERRA MADRE, Calif., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Residents of a Southern California home captured video of a bear taking a 15-minute dip in their pool to cool off from the weekend heat.

Thomas See of Sierra Madre said the video taken Sunday marked the first time he had seen a bear near his pool, but the animals have often been spotted in the area rooting around trash bins on pickup days.

The video shows the bear swimming lazy laps in the pool amid triple-digit heat and staying in the water for about 15 minutes before climbing out and moving on from the area.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife estimates there are between 25,000 and 30,000 black bears in the state.
