Airline pilot busted for cocaine smuggling after bag of Colombian coke bursts in stomach

HOUSTON, May 28 (UPI) -- A commercial pilot is receiving treatment at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Houston after a bag of Colombian cocaine that he allegedly had stashed in his stomach burst.

Stanley Hill was traveling on a commercial flight from Colombia to Houston when one of the "62 small rubber sacks of cocaine" he had in his stomach exploded, Local 2 reported.

Shortly after the plane touched down at Bush Intercontinental Airport, Hill called for emergency assistance from a nearby hotel.

Hill was not the pilot of the plane, but it is possible that his security clearances may have made it easier for him to try and smuggle in the drugs. The 49-year-old has been charged with felony possession of drugs with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

According to NBC 5, Hill works for a small regional air carrier and has two children. He is still being cared for at the hospital while a Houston police officer guards his room.
