The old game was available for Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, whereas A Legend Reborn will be for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Playstation 4, Wii U and PC.
Investors could donate as little as $2 to the campaign, and pricier donations came with perks like a signed O’Neal jersey or action figure. For $600, investors could secure themselves a copy of the game as well as get O’Neal to follow them on Twitter.
The CEO of Big Deez Productions, Matt Karch, said Fu 2 will be a “beat 'em up style” game during an interview with Nintendo Life.
“Shaq has a well-deserved reputation of being a good family-friendly guy and having him tote guns around doesn't really match his image. We will be going for more of an over-the-top thing than a gory thing,” Karch said. “As much as I would love to see Shaq rip off a head and pitch it at a second enemy, I don't think it's in line with Shaq's image. Expect exaggerated physics and ragdolls galore, just not copious amounts of gore.”
